File on a CDROM

I had a cd sent to me and had patches on it from HP. I mounted the file and try to copy it to disk and it will not let me do it. I can copy the other small files on it. The files on it are as following:
-r-xr-xr-x 1 -1 -1 1332 Feb 12 10:34 patch-delivery-13986.R
EADME.txt
-r-xr-xr-x 1 -1 -1 2335078400 Feb 12 10:33 patch-delivery-13986.depot
-r-xr-xr-x 1 -1 -1 491 Feb 12 10:35 patch-delivery-13986.sums

So is it a mount option I need to have on it because of the size...

"...try to copy it to disk and it will not let me do it"

Any messages?

Has your file system the "large files" option?

Why not install directly from CD?

# swinstall -s

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: File on a CDROM

I have to use this cd on many different server that are remote so I like to have it copy to a file system. Once I copy it to a server and then ftp it out to the servers when I will schedule to do the install.

The file system I'm copy it to is set up with largefile. Anyway is there some mount option that I can use that will help?

Re: File on a CDROM

There is no error message.

Here's what the readme file said:

To load the patches from the depot use the swinstall command (you will need to be logged in as root):
swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true \
-s
Depending on which options were used when mounting the media, the filename of the depot may be slightly different.
Specifically, the filename may be all uppercase or all lowercase.

"... it will not let me do it..."

So if there is no error messages, what happens?

What is your command?

Hope this helps!

Re: File on a CDROM

The command I ran is:

cp patch-delivery-13986.depot /system_space/

Re: File on a CDROM

Here. Let me try.

WHAT, EXACTLY, HAPPENS WHEN YOU RUN THAT
"cp" COMMAND?????

HINT: "it will not let me do it" DOES NOT
EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENS.

By the way, can we assume that the "cd" is
actually a DVD?
