File timestamp issue in CIFS mounted FS

Hi guys we have an issue regarding newly files created in a windows share mounted in a HP-UX server through CIFS... files being created on this shared mount is 1hr delayed... but windows and hp-ux servers have the correct time.

We tried remounting the shared fs but still no change.

This hp-ux server is in australia which recently have undergone DST change...

Kindly please advise...

Re: File timestamp issue in CIFS mounted FS

If my feeble memory is still serving me right, somewhere in the samba configuration, there is a variable you can change in order for the CIFS subsytem to follow the DST on its own, without manual intervention. Mind you, when you create a CIFS, you are creating a new filesystem and all IO going into this filesystem is subject to the configuration of the CIFS, not the client not the HPUX server itself.

Sorry that I can not remember the details about where this variable is/was.

Re: File timestamp issue in CIFS mounted FS

maybe the "time offset" parameter is what you are searching for:

http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/manpages-3/smb.conf.5.html#TIMEOFFSET

I know this is not the documentation for HP CIFS but maybe they have also implemented this...
