Could you give me a script to execute... which would give me the total space allocated/used in GB in each of the file systems and the Total Free space left in the disk in GB.

Re: Find the total space in GB

Check out: bdfmegs

Explain more clearly, or Google for alternatives if that's not what you need.

Re: Find the total space in GB

I am running 11iV2 and bdfmegs is not working on my box..

I have actually saw found these links while searching in google and was not sure how to proceed....

# bdfmegs
sh: bdfmegs: not found.
You have mail in /var/mail/root
# bdfmegs -V vg00
sh: bdfmegs: not found.

May be I am being more dumb than ever....

I am actually not sure where to save this script & as what. And also not sure how to run it...

Normally to run a script I do ./scriptname.sh

Re: Find the total space in GB

Where is bdfmegs installed? You may need to either specify the full path name or put the location into your PATH variable.

Re: Find the total space in GB

# find . -name bdfmegs
#

I gave the above command to find where it is... But it returnem nothing

# man bdfmegs
No manual entry for bdfmegs.

Looks like it is not a part of the Std. OS or a built in command... May be do I have to install something...

Re: Find the total space in GB

This is not part of the OS.

Click the link provided and find it attached.

Download and save the script, add execute rights and run it.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Find the total space in GB

Grayh,

If you cat the file bdfmegs.sh, do you see any strange characters "^M" ?

Re: Find the total space in GB

When I cat I only get the script... I do not see strange characters...

I have it copied to /tmp.... Is that an Issue

Re: Find the total space in GB

Try this:

# mv bdfmegs.sh bdfmegs.1
# dos2ux bdfmegs.1 > bdfmegs
# chmod 555 bdfmegs
# ./bdfmegs

I would omit the '.sh' from the end of the file name. That just makes it easier to type.

Re: Find the total space in GB

This procedure made it worked

# mv bdfmegs.sh bdfmegs.1
# dos2ux bdfmegs.1 > bdfmegs
# chmod 555 bdfmegs
# ./bdfmegs

Thank you.....
