Re: Future size of vg need to be change

I think we need more info.

I could launch into a discourse on LVM default PE sizes and MaxPE per PV sizes, but that may not be what you're asking. Could you be more specific?

What size is it now? How is that size defined/limited? How is it going to grow?

Re: Future size of vg need to be change

Hi Vinay,

If the VG is already created and the os is 11.11 or earlier than you cannot modify it.

You need to look at the following values in vgdisplay output.

Max PV
Max PE per PV
PE Size (Mbytes)

These all defines the maximum VG size. Whereas in 11.23/11.31 we have vgmodiy command to increase these parameters.

Hope this helps

Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Re: Future size of vg need to be change

Unless you are able to use the vgmodify command, you have to vgremove/vgcreate in order to change this value because the PE size and MaxPE are set at creation time.

The vgmodify command became available in either 11iV2 (11.23) or 11iV3 (11.31).
