GSP to Event.log writing problem

Hi,
I have a problem: The event.log is not updated, when GSP SL events occur.
OS 11.31 March 2009.
I have already done the following:

1. Restart diagmond

2. Checked #monconfig - it is OK to write events => 1 to txt file:/var/opt/resmon/log/event.log

3. Updated Online diag for 11.31 to the last + prerequisites:

OnlineDiag B.11.31.07.11 HPUX 11.31 Support Tools Bundle, March 2010
SysFaultMgmt C.07.00.04.06 HPUX System Fault Management
SysMgmtWeb A.3.0.0 HP-UX Web Based System Management User Interfaces
WBEMSvcs A.02.09.02 HP WBEM

4. Switched between EMS and SFM mode.
Then release SFM mode by default.

#sfmconfig -w -q
EMS hardware monitors are disabled & SysFaultMgmt is monitoring devices.

5.#sfmconfig -t -a - this send the test event and the event.log was updated.

The question is:

What is the source for GSP SL log?
What is the source for event.log on the OS?
Why the event on SL cannot update event.log?

Quality answers should be pointed :))

Inesa

Re: GSP to Event.log writing problem

What is the source for GSP SL log?

The hardware itself.

What is the source for event.log on the OS?

Diag/SFm monitors/providers.

Why the event on SL cannot update event.log?

This is part of the monitors/providers/diagmond.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: GSP to Event.log writing problem

Hi,

What system are we talking about here? Some systems needed to have PDC or GSP firmware updated to fix event log update issues.

Re: GSP to Event.log writing problem

CNB's question is important. Because you are saying GSP, I am guessing you are either on older FW with a 'newer' box, or your running an A, L, or N.

You can pull the SL logs on older systems with:
/usr/sbin/diag/contrib/cclogview -k /var/stm/logs/os/ccerrlog

On newer systems use:
/usr/sbin/diag/contrib/slview
