HP 9000 -800 series 10.20.x OS - SAM Y2K Error
We have 2 HP-9000 800 series servers, both of which are running OS 10.20.x.
After resetting a user's password the system gives us a number for the user to
enter, when logging into the server. The user logs in and the system
immediately displays that the user's password was changed by on "Jan
1 at 00:00:00 1970". Since it is now, Jan 13 2000, we would like to know if
this is a fixable problem or is it a permanent bug in the HP server? I am
including a copy of the Y2K outputs that we produced, this morning, from the
system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: HP 9000 -800 series 10.20.x OS - SAM Y2K Error
I've been burned by patches in the past that
were "installed" but never configured by the OS.
Type in the following on the command line:
swlist -l fileset -a state | grep installed
if something actually comes back as installed,
you will have to manually configure that patch
using swconfig. Several or one of your y2k
patches may not have been configured properly
by swinstall and therefore the patch is not
working.

All patches have been configured and show as installed (see list). Server's
still show "1970" as the date the password was reset. Anyone else have any
idea?

Re: HP 9000 -800 series 10.20.x OS - SAM Y2K Error
Generally speaking, if your system clock is set to the proper date when you are
getting the message then you are probably not dealing with a Y2K problem. I
believe you may have a software related problem and may need to move your
question to the HP-UX Forum. I believe I have seen this problem in the past and
it being related to software and the user being inactive for an extended amount
of time.
