HP Filtering setup ...

... I need to set up a filter using octal or decimal or hex codes, to output reports wider than 80 columns to 8.5x11.0 paper on HP Laser printers by changing the cpi and lpi.

I don't know how to create it, where to put it, or how it should be pathed.

Any help would be appreciated.
