HP SiteScope and Oracle Grid Control

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to define a solution for a customer, using HP SiteScope and Oracle Grid Control and I am looking your kind help on the following:

Does anyone know if this 2 components can be integranted directly? or Do I need a third component in order to generate a solution able to monitor DB servers, web applications and general servers?

For all your kind support, many thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Re: HP SiteScope and Oracle Grid Control

Shalom,

Carlos, Oracle has a pretty good tool for monitoring its own database server. Most others I know that do this use a perl or shell script that actually runs some sql code that pulls data from the database. That is the only way to really know if the db is up. Checking process is up doesn't cut it.

Web servers alone can be monitored with a wget based script that tries to pull a page out of the system.

I prefer a shell script based monitor that actually makes sure the applications are up by pulling data from them.
