HP-UX Licensing

We have a RX4640 running HP-UX 11.23 base OE that is going out of commission. i want to do a fresh install of 11.31 base OE on it and repurpose this server. I wanted to know what my HP-UX licensing requirments are ?

since we have 11.23 license on this server, can i refresh to 11.31 base OE for free or i need to purchace 11.31license?

The original 11.23 license is all that you can use unless you have an active software support contract with HP. With that contract number, you can download and install 11.31 and patches. Otherwise, you will have to purchase 11.31 as a new license for your machine.
