HP-UX NIS v2 & v3
Dears,
Good day,
I'm trying to build an NIS master, I have a question about the /etc/passwd ; I noticed that in
v2 : owww:x:104:1:
v3 : owww:*:106:1:
What should I do ?? Also, I'm thinking about joining Sun Solaris and Linux to this NIS.
I'm building the NIS master on HP-UX v3
Thanks

Re: HP-UX NIS v2 & v3
Shalom,
I have to admit that is unfamiliar to me. Not many people are building new NIS servers due to security concerns.
Are you using the document above? Its a bit of a page turner, but it should contain the answer you seek.

Re: HP-UX NIS v2 & v3
Hi Steven,
I'm not trying to join to NIS Master but I'm building NIS Master on v3 and I will add v2 as clients so I noticed there is some operating system users with diffrent IDs, some one told me I have to work only on the human accounts and I have to put some strings in /etc/password to resolve this issue !!
Can you guide me through this ?
Thanks
