HP-UX Printer IP Address Change

Hello,

Just been advised one of my Network Printers needs to move to another floor in the building. Its moving to a floor point on the same same subnet, so I guess it's just a case of changing the address in SAM and Stop/Start the scheduler???

Or are there other thing to do before the Printer knows the new IP?

This is what I plan to do:

#lpshut
SAM
Change Printer IP Address
EXIT SAM
#lpshed

Go to lunch.

Can someone please advise.

Nigel

Re: HP-UX Printer IP Address Change

Shalom,

No, I think you have a good plan.

Just make sure any routers or switches between the server and the printer don't block the ports you need to print.

Re: HP-UX Printer IP Address Change

Hi,

If I need to change the IP address of a Physical Printer, where do I make the change? Just looked in SAM and there's no options for the printer IP address. Do I just make the change in /etc/hosts??? Thats the only place I can see the IP address for my printer.

BTW, I've never setup a printer in HP-UX, so I could be looking in the wrong place.

HELP.

Re: HP-UX Printer IP Address Change

Well you learn somrthing new every day with HP-UX.

Is this a printer tool? I thought SAM was the one and only?

Never setup a printer in HPUX. Do I have to stop the scheduler before I run this ?

Re: HP-UX Printer IP Address Change

Hi Nigel ,

I use to do directly without lpshut .:) ..but better if you can use lpshut before this and lpsched after the changes.

Re: HP-UX Printer IP Address Change

Thanks dude, I think the move has taken place as I have just received an email saying "Paper JAM" for the printer.

Better make that change.

Thanks again.

pt205 is what I need to change, so what do I do now? I typed pt205 and no further options appeared???

QUESTION: Should I have used option2 first (TCP IP Settings) rather than option 1?

Re: HP-UX Printer IP Address Change

Hi Nigel,

Can u check if there any requests pending on that printer and if yes the clear it and try again .

do "cancel -e printername" for clearing all pending request and do "lpstat printername " for checking

Please take care to assign points ,if my info helped u to rectify the issue :)
