HP-UX Processor Installation guide & license issue
Hi,
Iam using two HP-UX boxes one is consist of two processor.
As per my client i need to remove one processor and install it on another server.
Note: The another server has only one processer after installation of this processor does it need processor license.
My Question:
===========
let's say Server A & Server B
#Server A consist of two processor
#One processor will be move from Server A to Server B.
# Is it smooth to move processor from server A
#Does Server B require processor license
#If yes how to get & install processor license.
Your valuable input will be appreciated......

Re: HP-UX Processor Installation guide & license issue
Hi,
can you please post the model of Server A & B as well as the OS Version you are running?
If we are talking about actual versions and servers, in my opinion this is only possible using global icap.
Check https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B9073BA for details.

Re: HP-UX Processor Installation guide & license issue
Shalom,
That depends on the software we are talking about.
Oracle claims a right to unlimited user license at $40K per core. Watch out for costs on quad core box.
Most HP software is licensed by the physical CPU. So in this scenario, migrating permanently from a two cpu system to a one cpu system will save you some support costs.

Re: HP-UX Processor Installation guide & license issue
Thanks all for their valuable inputs.
Problem solved : From ONE cell board to another processor moved successfully by locking and unlocking processors.
