HP-UX swap type

In swaping using the LVM approach, after the logical volume is enabled for use as device swap. Is there any way the logical volume may be reduced or remove or to be configured for use as a file system??

Pls help..tnx

Re: HP-UX swap type

With HP-UX 11.31 I believe there is a 'swapoff' command that will allow you turn a swap device off. That would then allow you to reuse the LV as something else.

Barring that, you have to disable the swap device in /etc/fstab and reboot the system. Then you can use the LV for something else.

There is no swapoff command in HP-UX 11.11. There must at least one swap area in HP-UX, typically /dev/vg00/lvol2. That volume cannot be remove or reduced in size except by reinstalling HP-UX using Ignite. For other swap devices or filesystem swap, they cannot be changed or removed without a reboot.
