HPUX 11.11 upgrade question on SD32000

Hi!
We have a superdome 32000 running hpux 11.11. We want to upgrade SD nPar partiptions to 11.23 to 11.31.

Superdome current version is HPUX 11.11
SD's model is: 9000/800/SD32000
Processors: 16
OS mode: 64 bit

Is it possible to upgrade hpux 11.11 to 11.31?

No direct upgrade from 11.11 to 11.31 - consider a cold install!

But you can save the OS disk or do an ignite backup and cold install on a new disk, right?

But even if you upgrade, you cannot fall back to 11.11. You would have to backup your current system with Ignite/UX, perform the upgrade or cold install, then restore from the backup tape if it fails. There is no way to fall back from the new version.

I forgot to mention the ignite. We do a weekly ignite backup and had in my plan to recover OS using ignite backups.

question: I have not been in a situation like this before. In case I have to go back to 11.11 using ignite, ignite will also restore all the mount points linked to SAN. right?

Yes, an Ignite backup to the same computer restores everything including the SAN LUNs back to the original state (with the exception of LVM mirrored disks).
