HPUX 11i v3 Login Problem on the console

Hi Everyone,

I have an rx2660 (OS HPUX 11i v3) server on which I am unable to login to the server.I connected the server to my laptop thru a serial cable and I am unable to login thru any user ..when i enter my login id ..the system gets me back to the login prompt without asking me for a password.
Cud u pls help me on this

Here is a document on how to set up or reset console login on an rx2660 server.

A simple power off reboot will likely resolve the login issue, but its a bad idea.

Better is what you are trying, which is to get console access and do a more controlled problem diagnosis and system restart.

It is a great doc, with a picture, telling you where to connect the cable and everything. Best thing to do is ctrl-b into configuration and get it a network address so you can connect to it using X terminal or your chosen ssh client.

Strange. Are you using valid username and password?

Are you able to login through network with that account?

Are you at the MP login? Try the default:

MP login: Admin

MP password: Admin

Do you use hyperterminal with ansi emulation? This could be the problem. Try vt100 or better use putty.

Iam connected my display to VGA and USB key board attached instead of serial cable.

So it is clear instead of serial/vga iam using VGA and it works fine before.

Now the present situation is iam getting error as CONSOLE LOGIN repeatedly without asking for password.

I tried Admin/Admin and root user as well

To be blunt, its RTFM time. The documents I provided earlier provide a solution, should you take the time to read them.

Why its not working in vga/keyboard mode is not helpful. It is not. You apparently do not know the password or the terminal emulator you are using is messing it up.

So time to read the manual.
