HPUX 11i v3 installation on BL890c i2 (Tukwila)
Does anybody has any idea how much time it takes to OS install from scratch (DVD via USB) the HPUX 11i v3 on a BL890c i2 and have the latest patch bundle installed too? I was told that it could take several hours to do so?
Does anybody have a realistic figure ? ARe there any possible caveat on doing so?
Thanks in advance,
MarcVT

Re: HPUX 11i v3 installation on BL890c i2 (Tukwila)
I'd leave a couple of hours to get that job done. Speed of install varies based on memory, number of CPU's and other factors.
The USB connected DVD might be an issue though. HP-UX recognizes only a small set of hardware and if the OS doesn't know about that hardware, it might have difficulty detecting it.

However, these blades require march 2010 release, at this time there are no newer patch bundles.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

The fastest way of all though is via an Ignite Server.

Re: HPUX 11i v3 installation on BL890c i2 (Tukwila)
If you are going for the installation thro USB DVD Rom then it will take minimum of 3 hrs. so better go for the Ignite installation.
Thanks,
Shan.

Re: HPUX 11i v3 installation on BL890c i2 (Tukwila)
However, one question for my interest; did you try to connect the SUV cable to the second, third or fourth blade?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HPUX 11i v3 installation on BL890c i2 (Tukwila)
For me, the installation process is just the first (and the most easy) step. After that comes custom configuration : LDAP, kerberos, SSH, Samba, NFS, re-importing VG's, ... A lot of configurations that all need to be done before the server can effectively been used. This can take more time than the initial installation.
