HPUX 9.05 panic crfree
I have an HP-UX 9.05 box that has started crashing recently. The last few panic messages I have received are:
crfree(0x307f9900) : bad cr_ref -32767

End of Stack
I have googled it to death and all of the references have to do with NFS. I am running NFS and have been for some time. The crashes have only started recently. Does anyone have an idea of where to begin to track this down? Could crfree be related to anything other than NFS?

Re: HPUX 9.05 panic crfree
Well, it appears that PHNE_17619 / PHNE_17620
fixes a problem that looks very similar to
the one you are seeing, but the patch appears
to be only for HP-UX 10.20 and not HP-UX 9.05.
Since 9.05 isn't supported by HP for a long
time, I'm not sure if there is an equivalent
patch available for 9.05.

Re: HPUX 9.05 panic crfree
You are not going to find any patches for 9.05 without contacting HP. They may have a site where such patches are available, but its not linked to itrc website.
These problems have two basic sources. Hardware failure or software, application or OS.
I'd check for recent changes in the system and then get the hardware checked. You might have lost a vital component.

Re: HPUX 9.05 panic crfree
Yes, you'll probably need NFS patches but they will be difficult to locate. HP can locate a patches for you but you'll need to open a paid support call with them. The reason that NFS is now failing is that you have likely changed the NFS environment, perhaps adding new or different flavors of Linux, other Unix flavors, even PCs using NFS programs. 9.05 remains locked into the mid-nineties--no new patches, no additional features. You'll have to maintain the same environment to ensure stability (resd: no new systems, programs, networking, etc).
