Hang up while booting services

Hi there!
Is there a way to overide boot-up services startup by pressing control keys?
It always stops by mail and snmp services due to time-out ... i have to wait more then 30min just to boot up computer!!!

Re: Hang up while booting services

Hi,
if you know there is a problem with certain services, why do you not remove them, if not required?
You can then change the scripts in /sbin/rc?.d to permanently skip the faulty services.

Re: Hang up while booting services

Hi Sergej,
As Peter mentionned check you have nothing in /etc/inittab disturbing then remove the troublesome services from the /sbin/rc.*d level, better would be move them to /sbin/rc4.d, the start files that is and put the stop in rc3.d
since you boot to runlevel 3, once conneted just type init 4 as root...
But I would try to see what is going on so go through the script and try to debug!

Good luck

Re: Hang up while booting services

shift cntl | will break you to login.

Then perhaps you should turn off mail and snmp and run those manually after next reboot.
