Hardware Consequences of the / partition getting full
We have a HP-UX 11.11i installed on our HP rp7420, the / partition got full, our system ram also got deconfigured it dimm 0A&0B, i would like to ask u was it due to the / partition size increase that the hardware i.e RAM got corrupted, can there be such scenarios, software corrupting the hardware???

Not in this case. Decades ago I've heard of disk access patterns causing excessive wear on heads or causing the drive to walk across the room and fall into a hole where the floor tiles weren't replaced. But not wearing out RAM.
I suppose you could have had RAM errors that got logged filling up /?

No. The sysadmin mistake won't cause the RAM to fail.

Too many single bit errors.
Did you have any hardware crashes with double bit errors?
