Re: Hardware RAID rx2660 with SCSI Ultra320 A7173A

This is the default 8 port SAS controller (/dev/sasd1).

This controller can do 2 pairs of mirrored disks, not more.

I would recommend to create 1 such pair for the OS.

On the remaining disks you can use LVM to mirror or just stripe.

From EFI do

Shell> drivers
...
1F 02010400 B X X 1 2 LSI Logic Fusion MPT SAS Driver PciROM:01:01:00:001
...

note the "1F" at the beginning of the line in this example.

Now do

Shell> drvcfg -s 1f

to configure (and use your value instead of "1F").

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Hardware RAID rx2660 with SCSI Ultra320 A7173A

Here is how I set up mine:

3 disks are configured for RAID1 (Mirror + Hot spare) -- this serves as my Boot disk.

The other 5 I configure as a VxVM RAID5 volume (Software RAID)

Re: Hardware RAID rx2660 with SCSI Ultra320 A7173A

You already have a RAID of drive 1 and drive 2.

Hope this helps!

Re: Hardware RAID rx2660 with SCSI Ultra320 A7173A

It is special RAID. built in.

It can only do Mirror + HP (2 sets though)

Please try... go to BIOS and find the interface for you to carve your SAS Mirrored volume

Re: Hardware RAID rx2660 with SCSI Ultra320 A7173A

Restart your OS.
Interrupt Boot Process (EFI Boot Manager)
Go to EFI Shell

Shell> drvcfg -s 20

20 is where your SAS embedded adapter is based on what you fursnihed.

After that.. it should be real EZ and intuitive to carve your RAID Volume for your bootdisk.
