Hardware monitoring system in HP-Itanium server

Hi all,
We have some server rx8640 server for our cusotmer. New cusotmer wants us to monitor the CPU, Memory, PS, Cell Boards faults.

Is there any way to monitor those hardware, if possible, what is the way to monitor it?

You can install nagios in those systems which is free. Its site is http://nagios.org/

Actually, our customer wants more. for example, if one CPU become faulty, system will generate some alarm and forward this alarm to third party application by SNMP or others protocol.

Built into the shm is a product called EMS.

This will let you set up email based hardware monitoring.

That will cover you unless of course the NIC card goes down.

You can monitor that form the outside with hobbit,nagio, ITO, take your pick.

This is also can be done to prepare your own plugging file. I remember someone using Python to write a plugging script.

You can use EMS, if you want support from HP you can cofigure RSP ( remote support pack) also.

I also have some idea about EMS. Will EMS generate different alarm for different hardware fail or only a common alarm for all hardware fail?

I heard from some one, who told me EMS will generate a common alarm for all types hardware failed.

anyway, Where I can get the installation guide of EMS?
