How Can I change speed setting for lan under HP-UX 11.11

Currently we have lan0,lan1 configured as

# lanadmin -x 0
Speed = 1000 Full-Duplex.
Autonegotiation = On.

# lanadmin -x 1
Speed = 100 Full-Duplex.
Autonegotiation = On.

I would like to change lan1 to 1000FulDuplex;

How can I do this ? through lanadmin ??

is that need reboot ?

any Ideas

and thanks in advance..

This should be setup on the switch, and use lanadmin:

#lanadmin -X auto_on 1

You don't need to reboot, you can change it on the fly, as Ivan says remember you need to have the same speed on the switch.

And also if you wan't to keep the changes after rebooting the server you need to modify the config files in /etc/rc.config.d/ , depending on the NIC model you have the files can be for example:

hpbtlanconf,hpigelanconf, etc ..

Windows?, no thanks

I know nothing, but if "Autonegotiation =
On", and it's _still_ at "Speed = 100", I'd
look at what's at the other end of the cable,
not at the HP-UX system. (Unless the
interface hardware on the HP-UX system can't
actually do 1000.)

Hi,

all changes (current setting and system files) would be done automatically if you use SAM - Networking and Communications - Network Interface Cards.
Choose the card you want to change and modify the value.
Restart of the network will last some minutes ...

Re: How Can I change speed setting for lan under HP-UX 11.11

If your lan1 interface were connected to a 1000FullDuplex-capable switch port properly configured for autonegotiation, and the interface itself was indeed a Gigabit interface, it would have come-up as 1000FullDuplex automatically as part of autonegotiation.

That autonegotiation is shown as enabled and the link as 100FD it suggests that your lan1 interface is either only capable of 100Mbit speed, or was connected to a 100Mbit/s switch port.
