Re: How can I read a tape ?

Use a tape drive and some command?

How (and where) was the tape written?
("tar"? cpio? dd? dump? vdump? It
matters.)

Re: How can I read a tape ?

Hi,

As Steven says, it really depends on how the data was written to the tape...

Probably the most common backup utility is vdump. The companion command to read the data off the tape is vrestore.

# man vrestore

for more information...

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Re: How can I read a tape ?

Well, as "man vdump" suggests, "vrestore" is
the usual way to read a "vdump" archive.
"man vrestore" explains its details.

This might do what you want:

vrestore -t -f
