How can we log more information in /var/adm/messeges file
Currently we are only able to log startup/shutdown messeges to the /var/adm/messeges file. Is there any way that we log more information in this file.
Pls suggest.
Thanks
Deep

Re: How can we log more information in /var/adm/messeges file
Hi,
there is another directory.
/var/adm/syslog.dated/current
Here are more log files.
If you look into /etc/syslog.conf you will see what goes where.
What do you want to see in messages?
greetings,
Michael

Re: How can we log more information in /var/adm/messeges file
Deep,
Though it is not a good idea to divert more info to this file, I have noticed one of the customer diverting all the messages from all the daemons logged to this file.
This makes customer to monitor only one file as part of system management processes.
However this is not recommended or supported.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Mahesh
