How does Shutdown log works

Hi,

My /etc/shutdownlog is not getting updated on one of my server. I have tried restarting the syslogd .. but no luck.

Can someone help me to understand how does shutdownlog gets update & how to fix that.

Thanks

Re: How does shutdown log works

# touch /etc/shutdownlog

# chmod 644 /etc/shutdownlog

Then wait until a programmed shutdown or reboot occours and watch if it worked...
