How to Ensuring the Hardware Console Port Is Owned by the First Virtual Partition

Hi all
I'm new to vPar administration
Now I'm doing a practice:create a vPar in an nPar and boot from it

But when I reboot the nPar and run " ISL>hpux /stand/vpmon " and "MON>vparload -p vPar1", there is no more output for a long time.

So I suspect that maybe my console I/O is not included in vPar1.

My question is how can I ensure my console port to be included in my first vPar?

Tks in advance!

Re: How to Ensuring the Hardware Console Port Is Owned by the First Virtual Partition

Hi Avi
I've already consulted this document.

What I actually want to know is how can I determine the HW path of my physical console port and with that I could determine which LBA I should include to my first vPar.

Thank you

Re: How to Ensuring the Hardware Console Port Is Owned by the First Virtual Partition

Well the hardware path of the core i/o card is the one you need to use.
From the nPar ioscan output, look for the core i/o and then make sure it is in your vPar.
What model of 9000 is this?
post teh model and the nPar ioscan output

Here ios an example from a Superdome nPar:
H/W Path Class Description
========================================================
root
2 cell
2/0 ioa System Bus Adapter (804)
2/0/0 ba Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)<<<<<<<
2/0/0/0/0 tty PCI Serial (103c1048)
2/0/0/1/0 lan HP PCI 10/100Base-TX Core
2/0/1 ba Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
2/0/1/0/0 ext_bus SCSI C895 Ultra2 Wide

So 2/0/0 is the ba (core I/O card) with the console (tty) on it

Re: How to Ensuring the Hardware Console Port Is Owned by the First Virtual Partition

More information is needed.

Run and post the results:

# model
# vparstatus -v
# ioscan -fn
# vparstatus -P
# vparstatus -m
# parstatus

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: How to Ensuring the Hardware Console Port Is Owned by the First Virtual Partition

To Add

required the output of

# vparenv

I am suspect the the granularity of the CLM. Miss matching With the CLM / ILM assigned to the Vpars.

I faced the similar issue once. When i changed the granularity it worked.

Also try using "Ctrl + a" in the console.
