How to add stape driver to kernel without rebooting

Dear all,

My system rp4440, using HP-UX 11i. today i need to add stape driver to kernel.

Is it possible to add stape driver to kernel without rebooting server, since the server is production server.?

Thanks,

Hi Otong,

No not possible, you will need to create a new kernel and boot the the kernel to activate the new driver.

Unfortunatly stape is a static driver, so
you will have to reboot your machine after
installing it. Also I would suggest bundling
(swcopy both into one target depot & select
both for installation) both stape product and
latest patch for installing it in one go, so
that you can save another reboot for installing
the patch.

You need reboot.
There are kernel modules that are online but stape is not :(

Rebooting is a must because stape is a static driver. 3 days ago I had to reboot my server (RP4440) to enable stape driver.

@andyfang - This thread was last updated 7 years ago.  I hardly think there is any value in you echoing the same advice everyone else gave way back then.
