How to allocate LUN and mount a filesystem bigger than 2 TB

Hi Geniuses,

I would like to know for one of my requirements.
I need to create a single filesystem on my HPUX 11.11 box. Allocation of LUN can also be considered but what will be the type of filesystem. My current VxFs support only upto 2 TB.

Any suggestions and guidance will be welcomed.

Thanks,

Vaibhav

Suppose you want /data1 in 3TB size.

/data1 have two subforlders /data1/oracle & /data1/logs

you can create /data1 with 2TB & you can mount another filestem on /data1/oracle of 1TB , to in total /data1 size is 3TB.

But ensure that you should have good discussion with application/dba team about the growth theese subfolders.

Re: How to allocate LUN and mount a filesystem bigger than 2 TB

Many hanks Arvind for reply and time.

Additonally, can you tell me if I have allocated a LUN of 5 TB, how does HPUX treat this space in terms of file system type.

So how do we add LUN in UX box and what kind of file system we create.

Sorry for question which may sould silly as I am slightly started working on UNIX side.

Hi:

At 11.11 you can't accommodate more than 2TB :

Hi,

Upgrade your OS ver.11.11 to 11.23 then you can have up to 16TB of lv.

Re: How to allocate LUN and mount a filesystem bigger than 2 TB

So the conclusion what I took is that file system type would be VxFS (JFS) andmaximum 2TB can be created.

Please correct in case if I am wrong.

Thanks to all for their time and answers.
