How to block specific ip's access to my prodn server...

hi guys,
I need to block specific set of ip's to access to my prod machine...they shuld not get the login prompt.....

i tried wid /etc/hosts.allow n deny but smehw it doesnt wrk.....


11iv2 wid 8gb ram..rx6600.......


any other way to block d same...since the ip's r in the same subnet .....i.e. 10.1.xx.xxx....

If they are using telnet, use inetd.sec - http://docs.hp.com/en/B3921-60631/inetd.sec.4.html
