Without a given OS version I guess a current one, so you might want to check the manpage of 'kctune' otherwise you should use sam for it.

Be aware that there are dependencies from the parameters to other ones and automatically calculated values respectively.

Re: How to change the Semaphore value in HP-UX (kernel parms)

If you are on 11.23 or later, you can simply use kctune(1m) to change the values.

semaem semmni semmns semmnu semmsl need reboot.

semmap doesn't exist

Then you need to use kmtune(1m) and semmap exists.

Or just use SAM.

Stephan, I wasn't ignoring your prior recommendation (    as Dennis did ;^)    ), I was just emphasizing that SAM is a good tool for just this sort of thing.

Stephan: And I saw you enclose in tickmarks 'kctune' [just as I do] but not encapsulate the word "sam".   Hence, I too failed to see it until Pete upcased it to show the emphasis :-))
Regards to you both!

Hey, no fair, it took me that long to compose my answer and check each parm.  ;-)
