Re: How to change the kernel parameter

Hi Praveen,

I think its better to change the kernel using SAM. run SAM > Kernel configuration > configurable Paramaters. Select the which ones you woukd like to change. You can use the absolute values. Just remmber a kernel change my need to reboot the server. Plus it looks like the are some Patches you need to install, be sure that they are not super seeded.

Good luck,

Re: How to change the kernel parameter

You don't HAVE to use the formulas that are listed.

Just tab into the value field, remove the formula that is there and put the value you want in its place.

Re: How to change the kernel parameter

I am doing:
sam> kernal configuration> configurable parameters >
then i used "space" to select any parameter and the "action" , then "modify configurable parameter"

then it shows me the " formula value" & "calulated value".

so i am deleting the formula value and giving the new decimal value.

now the status is: ( I want to make it 256)
suppose:

Name Current Value Pending value
max_thread_proc 64 256

now when i exit from kernal configuration, it asks for:

<> create a new kernel now
<> Defer kernel creation until later
<> cancel all kernel modifications

please suggest which options should i choose and what be new options after this and what to select.

Thanks

Re: How to change the kernel parameter

hi
after changing all parameters choose
create new kernel now
it will ask something like:
move kernel into place now
select yes.

then system will reboot...
