Re: How to crash a server having hp-ux os 11.xx manually??

Sachin,

You can manually generate a crash dump by doing a transfer of control to the server or TOC ( TC ).

The following information is for PA-Risc servers:

V-Class: The process for TOCing a V-Class server varies depending
on the number of nodes managed by the teststation and
the model number of the server.

V2200/V2250 with only one node connected to the
teststation:
type: do_reset 0 4

V2200/V2250/V2500/V2600 NOT in an SEA configuration but
with multiple complexes configured for one test station:
type: set_complex complex_name
then type: do_reset 0 4

V2500/V2600 in an SEA configuration:
type: do_reset node_number 4

N-Class: At the console(webconsole) type -b. Enter username and
password configured at the GSP prompt at boot time (HP
won't know what it was set to). If entered correctly, a
gsp> will occur. At the GSP prompt, type "TC. The TOC
button should be user-accessible -on the GSP card.

A-Class: Press the TOC button (labeled Transfer of Control) on the
the bottom-right of the rear between the primary LAN port
and SCSI connector.

T-Class: Set keyswitch to SERVICE; at console press Ctrl-b, at CM>
type SP, at SP> type TC.

K-Class: Press TOC button at bottom of CORE-IO -or- turn the
keyswitch to "Service" and at console: press Ctrl-b.
At CM> type TC, confirm your action.

L-Class: Like the N-Class, press Ctrl-b, login to GSP and execute
the TC command. The TOC button is on the GSP card, but on
an L-class, it's not user-accesible.

D-Class: Press TOC button on the CORE-I/O Board -or- On rear of CPU,
set SERVICE/NORMAL switch on AP card to SERVICE position.
At console press Ctrl-b, at CM> type TC.

E-Class: Place Service/Normal switch (on rear) in Service position.
Then at the console press ctrl-b. At CM> type TC

8x7's and E,F,G,H,I series and the 840:
At console press Ctrl-b. At CM> type TC.

8x2 series: Turn the keyswitch to position 3 and release it.

8x5 series: Turn the keyswitch behind the lower panel to "soft
reset/TC" for one second.

815 and 808: Press the TOC button at the lower right rear of the
unit.

Jaime.

Re: How to crash a server having hp-ux os 11.xx manually??

You can log on to the management processor attached to the server, and issue a TC command from the command menu (CM). This will perform a 'Transfer of Control,' causing running applications to dump state.

Hi,

You can TOC from system console using TC command. Some old servers have TOC button to do the same.
Best wishes,

Ganesh.
