How to downgrade RHELAS4 Update 3 to just RHELAS4?
I have a RHELAS4 update 3 server.
# more /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 3)
I need to downgrade it to just RHELAS4. Is it possible? Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,

And as far as I'm aware, there's no 'simple' way.

Re: How to downgrade RHELAS4 Update 3 to just RHELAS4?
This is for one of our project requirements.
We donot have any server in the lab currently running just RHELAS4. Almost all of them are having RHELAS4 U3.
We need to test weblogic; and the OS needs to be just RHELAS4 without any updates.
Please suggest,
Thanks.

Re: How to downgrade RHELAS4 Update 3 to just RHELAS4?
but afaik, there is _no_ automated way of doing that in RH. this means you would have to get a list of packages+version of the base RH4 and compare it to RH4U3 and then go to the downgrade cycly manually.
this can be a pita, because a lot of packages will have dependencies etc.
with all the effort needed, a reinstall would be the fastest solution. unless you know which packages your app uses and only downgrade those.
btw, my guess is it will work just as well with RH4, but it is all a question of support from the vendor ofcourse.

You reinstall.
Not even yum can downgrade, though you can remove packages and dependendies with reasonable ease.
