Solution1) Set up ilo with password and ip address.
2) configure that with system-config-cluster going through normal fencing steps.
ilo devices control power to the system and therefore can be used to boot the system via a power reset. To avoid split brain syndrome, e.g. both modes trying to modify the same data at the same time fencing permits the cluster service to fence one node to avoid data corruption.
Without fencing your cluster is not reliable and can not deal with problems and maintain data integrity.
So no, you can not live without fencing.

Disconnect the interconnect cable to test.

Re: How to fence a RHEL5 cluster with HP DL585 Rilo ?
Ivan,
I got the fencing working fine with the iLO
the best way to test is
/sbin/fence_ilo -a ilo_hostname -l ilo_username -p ilo_password -o off -v
I had to download and install perl-Crypt-SSLeay-0.56-1.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm
to get this to work.
thanks

Re: How to fence a RHEL5 cluster with HP DL585 Rilo ?
I have the same problem, while stopping fencing,it takes a long time and then has an error "leaving cluster failed, device or resource busy".
Mine is HP DL580G5 with ilo2,i have a usrname password and ip address with ilo2.
Can anyone tell me how to config the fence and how to deal with the problem?
thanks a lot!
