Fellow HP-UX Admins:
What is "OS Release Level" and if something like that exists how do we find it?
My DBAs are asking me this question to fill out some forms asked by one of their vendors.
I dont believe that they need the "Base Quality Pack Bundle" number. I gave them the output of QPKBASE as well as "uname -a". I got back a request to provide them with "OS Release Level". I am running 11.31 with QPKBASE from Sept 2011. Any input from your end would be most appreciated.
Regards,
-Kennedy.

Re: How to find OS Release Level
With 11.31, the month/year of the installation media used for the original installation can be important in some cases.
For example, this is a HP-UX 11.31, March 2010 release:

Re: How to find OS Release Level
Thanks Matty. But, I believe that there is a OS RELEASE LEVEL also which is a number like 7 or 8 (something like that). I am trying to find out what it is on a specific box in my environment.

Re: How to find OS Release Level
Torsten:
That is the Base Quality Pack Bundle. (Sept 2011).
I believe there a OS Release Level - which is a 1 or 2 digit number. Have you heard of anything like that? ( I haven't. )

SolutionHP-UX 11i v3 September 2011 (Update 9)
But all documentation refers to the "date" format, e.g. 1109 for sept. 2011.
Example from SD2 firmware release notes:
"... This release was initially published to ONLY support HP-UX 11i v3 1109. Support for this release is now available for HP-UX 11i v3 1009 and HP-UX 11i v3 1103 in the event that the user is unable to update to the 1109 fusion release..."
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
