Hi,
I want to know how to get the detail utilised system physical memory information.
Please do clarify how to read this information from SYSLOG as below for lockable and available memory.
May 8 13:47:23 server1 vmunix: Memory Information:
May 8 13:47:23 server1 vmunix: physical page size = 4096 bytes, logical page size = 4096 bytes
May 8 13:47:23 server1 vmunix: Physical: 33554432 Kbytes, lockable: 26058632 Kbytes, available: 29908228 Kbytes
The system is having physical memory of 32GB. But in syslog it is showing 26GB as lockable and 29GB as available ...If i ADD both of this memory (lockable + available)then it is more then the physical memory in system.
And also how to read the SWAPINFO -MAT output for physical memory available and SWAP memory available...
server1:[/]# swapinfo -mat

Re: How to get the detail utilised system physical memory information.
>> If i ADD both of this memory (lockable + available)
You can't add lockable or available memory to server. you are allowed to add physical memory if your application needs more.
check below link to get more details.

you can use tools like glance, gpm or kmeminfo to get better memory details from system.
some useful tools available on..

Solution
>If I ADD both of this memory (lockable + available) then it is more ...
Because these are not disjoint states.
>how to read the swapinfo -tam output for physical memory available and SWAP memory available...
reserve - 16583 -16583
memory 25498 2714 22784 11%
total 45690 19297 26393 42%
This says you have 26 Gb swap available and only 22 Gb pseudo-swap. You have reserved 16 Gb of your device swap.
>Prasanth: You can't add lockable or available memory to server.
You can add any numbers you want but whether they make sense or not is something different.

>how to read the swapinfo -tam output for physical memory available and SWAP memory available...
reserve - 16583 -16583
memory 25498 2714 22784 11%
