How to install "Auto port aggregation J4240AA # 2A"

hi,
i need to install "Auto port aggregation J4240AA # 2A" on my server using putty, because I am physically away from my server,
Installtion disks are in the CD-ROM.

I need to install this and then aggregating the two network ports.

Please let me know the steps.

Shalom praveen.

Uncomment the cdrom mount section of /etc/fstab if you have it.

mount /cdrom # or whatever you call cd-rom in etc/fstab.


cd /cdrom
swinstall -s $PWD \*

Or swinstall -i and menu your way to the installation cd.

Thats as much as I can provide.

hi,
please let me know the list of patches which should be installed on server for the installation of Auto Port Aggregation .

does this installation requires the following patches:

PHKL_31500
PHNE_32277
PHNE_33429
PHNE_30773


# swlist -l product | grep -e 31500 -e 32277 -e 33429 -e 30773
PHKL_31500 1.0 Sept04 base patch

It looks like that we have only one patch installed,

is there any need to install the remaining PHNE patches to start the installation / configuratuion of Auto Port Aggregation ?

or can i start the installation / configuratuion of Auto Port Aggregation directly without installing the PHNE PATCHES?

Praveen,

The following two patch should be on your system, because they are part of the base install-set:
- PHKL_31500
- PHNE_30773

Also perform a patch assesment to see which patches are needed on your system.

According to the installation notes you only need:
Patch PHKL_31500 or its superseding patch (B.11.23.05 (AR0904) release only), install it before installing HP APA.

- PHNE_31118
- PHNE_33429

Hi,
I don' t known if it is the same version but from my manual of installation fo APA:

IMPORTANT Patches must be in place before installing the HP APA software. If the latest core LAN patch is
not in place, the following problems will result:
â ¢ For the April 1999 release: Installation of the product will fail.
â ¢ For the June 1999 release, and after:
The product will install properly, but will not initialize. When the patch is installed, it will
cause the system to reboot and after the reboot, the product initialize and become usable.

So I think is better install the patch first of the APA installation.

if the manual said it is require, you better install the patch before install the APA.

the PHNE_32277 & PHNE_33429 is not a must if you won't use 8 ports trunking.

Note that the PHNE_30773 is supersedes by 31500 that you already have installed.
