How to set _M_ARENA_OPTS

Hello
I have just installed Cognos Transformer 8.4 on my HP-UX 11.31 server. The installation went fine but when I try to run the configuration tool, it crashes.

I believe that the application is 32-bit.

The Cognos support person has requested that that I set the _M_ARENA_OPTS environment variable as follows: _M_ARENA_OPTS 1:4

How do I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: How to set _M_ARENA_OPTS

Hi Pamela:

In a shell session:

# export _M_ARENA_OPTS=1:4

Regards!

Thank you. Can I put this in the application account's .profile?

Hi (again) Pamela:

Yes, that would be a good place and action.

If you do that, this command will affect EVERY program that user runs.

It may be much better to export that variable on the script that executes configuration tool.

Did the support person say this is only needed for the config step and/or for the Transformer itself?

Re: How to set _M_ARENA_OPTS

This user account is used only to run and manage transformer so I think putting in the .profile will be ok.

Thanks for the feedback.
