Hyperthreading on 9100
Hi,
We are using Itanium 2 9100 series Montvale processors and I want to know if this processor supports hyperthreading
#setboot -v
Hyperthreading=on
Do I just need to change kernel parameter lcpu_attr=1 to enable hyperthreading ? It is currently set to 0.
Thanks
Michael

Re: Hyperthreading on 9100
Itanium 9100 (aka Montvale) supports hyperthreading (2 threads per core). You need to enable hyperthreading in EFI and after the server boots up you can dynamically enable/disable hyperthreading by setting kernel tunable parameter lcpu_attr.

Re: Hyperthreading on 9100
An update to my previous post.
Oh well, not all implementations of Itanium 9100 support hyperthreading.
Hyperthreading supported on : 9150M, 9150N, 9140M, 9140N, 9120N
Hypertheading NOT supported on: 9130M, 9110N
For details refer to Intel Itanium 9100 product specification sheet

Re: Hyperthreading on 9100
Hi,
Just wanted to clarify that output from machinfo
3 Intel(R) Itanium 2 9100 series processors (1.59 GHz, 18 MB)
532 MT/s bus, CPU version A1
relates to a 9140N based on the speed and cache detailed in the product brief.
Thanks
Michael
