IA64 Ignite backup of rx2660 hanging at "WARNING: You are about to create an Itanium-based ...

Hi

I have an igniote script:

#!/usr/bin/sh

#### A short script to create Ignite images and keep a log
HOST=$(hostname)
IGN_SERVER=hatux5b
LOGDIR=/var/adm/TVW
LOGFILE=tape.ignite.log
TAPEDEV=/dev/rmt/0m
TAPEDEVN=${TAPEDEV}n # no rewind dev
IMAGES=1

##### Make a directory for logs
if [ ! -d ${LOGDIR} ]
then
mkdir ${LOGDIR}
fi

##### Keep Last Logfile
if [ -f ${LOGDIR}/${LOGFILE} ]
then
mv ${LOGDIR}/${LOGFILE} ${LOGDIR}/${LOGFILE}.old
fi

# spool output to logfile
exec > ${LOGDIR}/${LOGFILE} 2>&1

echo "Making Ignite for $HOST : $(date)"
/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -a ${TAPEDEVN} -I -v -x inc_entire=vg00 -x exclude=/var/adm/crash -x exclude=/var/opt/perf -x exclude=/opt/ignite -x exclude=/dataprotector_dump

RC=$?
if [ ${RC} = 0 ]
then
/usr/bin/mt -f ${TAPEDEV} rew
echo "Finished: Return code=${RC}"
else
echo "WARNING !!! Ignite make_tape_recovery - Finished: Return code=${RC}"
fi

And it is hanging at the message:

+ /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -a /dev/rmt/0mn -I -v -x inc_entire=vg00 -x exclude=/var/adm/crash -x exclude=/var/opt/perf -x exclude=/opt/ignite -x exclude=/dataprotector_dump

WARNING: You are about to create an Itanium-based recovery tape. If this system does NOT support direct tape boot, you will need to perform "two-step media
recovery" where the boot media (CD or DVD) has the same version of Ignite-UX as the version on this tape.

I use to use a DDS3 but it didn't have enough capacity so would fail becuase there was no one to enter a 2nd tape.  I have now put in a brand new DDS4 dat72, and am getting thiese messages above?

Any ideas:

Regards

Tariq

Warnings are normal because of your excludes. Does it finish?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi Torsten

I hit ctrl-c after about an hour, and as soon as I did, the log read:
