Ignite Tape Times Used

Is there a way to find out how many times an ignite tape (make_tape_recovery)is used? I know fbackup has a counter, I was hoping Ignite had a similar feature. Thanks!

Re: Ignite Tape Times Used

Not that I ever heard of Kevin. Under the covers, Ignite is just a tar/pax backup and I don't recall ever seeing a counter in tar. I'll go look at the man page, though.

Re: Ignite Tape Times Used

Kevin,
If you are taking the ignite backup using a customized script, and if it is generating a new logfile eachtime it is taking an ignite backup, then it can be figured out.
Assuming the tape operator recycling the same set of DAT or DDS.

I remember I use a script that keeps a logfile: Ignite_tape_bkup.$DATE under /var/adm/syslog/ignite_backup/ and it is very useful other than the usual recovery.log that get overwritten in the next backup.

Other than this looks like no such option in make_tape_recovery ,

Cheers,
Raj.
