Ignite or Cold Install

Good Morning. I have an old L3000 with 11.11 which I would like to convert to a 11.23 server. I am wondering if it would be easier to start from scratch and do a cold install of 11.23, or could an Ignite from a brand new RP3440 running 11.23 work?

Re: Ignite or Cold Install

You could try an Ignite from the rp3440, but I'm not sure it would work.

I think the 2 servers are too different.

The safest approach would probably be a cold install.

Re: Ignite or Cold Install

hi,

I would stick with a doing a fresh cold install.

It will probably be quicker and better in the long run.

Thats my opinion, I'm not saying it wont work with an ignite tape but, why risk it if your not talking abou getting a critical system back up and running

Re: Ignite or Cold Install

11.23 is supported on your system, see

http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-1978/ch02s03.html

(rp5470 aka L3000)

But keep in mind, some of the HBAs may not be supported, e.g. all HVD SCSI devices.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
