Re: Increasing the size of a striped & mirrored logical volume
If you would to keep your current policy/configuration (striping+mirror) intact, you will need to add 6 disks to you volume group vg01 and then extend your /dev/vg01/lvol2 logical volume.

Re: Increasing the size of a striped & mirrored logical volume
your lvdisplay command output does not show any striping , are you sure there are any ?
# lvdisplay -v /dev/vg01/lvol2
Stripes 0
Stripe Size (Kbytes) 0
Thanks and Regards

Re: Increasing the size of a striped & mirrored logical volume
However, if you want to continue that way you need 6 more disks, if not, you need only 2 but you need to change to non distributed.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Increasing the size of a striped & mirrored logical volume
As said you need to add six disks to extend the LV. Three for distributing and three for mirorring them.
Differences between Striped and Distributed layout:
Striped logical volumes:
-Stripe unit = 4K to 32768K
-Can't be mirrored
Distributed logical volumes:
-Stripe unit = 1 extent
-Can be mirrored

Re: Increasing the size of a striped & mirrored logical volume
How do I go about adding extra disks to the vg01 volume group that has these striped volumes ?
==>Its not striped, its distributed across 3 disks and mirrored to anothere 3 disks. So you have to add 6 disks in order to extend the lvols in this Allocation policy.
