There are some V712/80 workstations coming up
for redeployment in our company. I have searched
www.hp.com and can't get a clear answer.
Will these workstations run HP-UX 11i?
Are they worth having around for "test" boxes,
maybe even a ServiceGuard test/training platform?
I am guessing that they have an older PA chip
but I can't even seem to find out that informaton. Any help is appreciated.
P.S. This thread has been moevd from HP-UX > HP-UX Technical Documentation to HP-UX > sysadmin - HP Forums Moderator

Re: Information on V712 workstation
Can't find the 712/80 - but here's a link to the 712/100. Should be pretty darn close.

Re: Information on V712 workstation
yes they will
but only the 32 bit version
and check your hard disk space
most came with only a 2g harddrive, installing 11i with only 2g is going to be pretty tight
also i think 128m is the max on memory, so things like nfs and cde are going to be somewhat slow

service guard? not a chance, dont' even try it
training? depends on what the application requirements are, and what you have available. these can be setup to run headless and then can used quite well for dns, timeserver, ftp site, small web site.
