Installing and configuring CDE (X-Window) interface in HP-UX 11i v3

Dear All,

After Installing hp-ux11iv3 in a hp9000(rp7420) server I am not getting any CDE (X-window) interface while connecting using x-manager, Reflexion, whatever. I found CDE interface is optional in version 3. I had to select it during installation or can be installed later. But unfortunately I could not find any CDE package in my installation CD(FOE).

I need CDE interface to install Oracle. Can I download any CDE Package from Internet and install it? What is the name of this package? Can anyone help me on this issue?

Run

swlist -l product -s /cdrom

or whatever you are using as mountpoint for the install media and you will find a product called "CDE".

Now select the CDE environment in a language of your choice and install.

Are you sure, CDE bundle is in the (FOE)CD? We could not find it. Is their any alternate way to have this bundle?

Did you already run the command on the install media?

If I run

swlist -l product -a title ...

I get

CDE is NOT installed by default with HP-UX 11iv3.
You must select it from the Optional Products list when installing, or use the install media to now add it in.

CD? v3 comes on CD? I have two v3 DVDs.

How did you look? With my FOE DVD ("February
2007", "1 of 2") mounted at "/cdrom":

Then what should I do next? Why am I not getting the interface? How can I configure it to get the x-interface?

Hi,
I have the similar problem before, after installing the CDE on the server you have to run the command below to let it auto-start

#/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e

The output is
desktop auto-start enabled


After you have done that , reboot the server and try again, hope this help
