Installing new OS

I am installing tru64 4.0f (for now) on a spare disk pack (ES40). I get "finder -q" error when the initial interface comes up. Why and what is this msg?

Re: Installing new OS

Hi,

how far have you come with the installation?
Is that already the booting of the new os?
What is your initial interface?
Did you check for the requirements of the harware?

Re: Installing new OS

Thanks for responding.

I got nowhere on the install. As soon as the I boot from CD and the user interface for entering the system name, root user..., I get the finder -q msg.

The spare disk should have nothing on it. I am booting from CD.

Re: Installing new OS

Hi,

is there any reason, you go for 4.0F?
Please post a show config, so we can see, if there is any unsupported hardware,

thanks,

Re: Installing new OS

If GUI leads to a problem use the fallback textmode:

if "initializing" occures, press CTRL/C
enter:
# restart nogui

have a look into the installation guide
Help() { FirstReadManual(urgently); Go_to_it;; }
