Irda and Mandrake 9.1

I have an Armada M 700 booting Windows 2000 and Mandrake 9.1
I do Hotsync with a Treo (running Palm OS) fine when booted Windows 2000, but not with Mandrake.
What is the name of the IR (infra red) port under Mandrake 9.1 ?
How do I install Jpilot or Kpilot from the CD ?

Thanks for any hint

Re: Irda and Mandrake 9.1

I haven't used Mandrake in a while but from what I remember they are somewhat similar to RedHat.What follows is what I use on my RedHat box.Edit /etc/sysconfig/irda and set the DEVICE to /dev/ttyS1 if you only have one serial port on the laptop. (default is ttyS2 and that will cause the irda service to fail when starting)Start the irda serviceservice irda startThis should attach the irda port to the /dev/ircomm0 device. Now you should be able to use irdadump and see devices that are within the IR range.I have no idea on hotsync, I use the IR port for dialup.Hope this helps,Cristi

Hello Gerard,

you will need jpilot (www.jpilot.org) for the GUI and pilot-link for the underlying infrastructure (www.pilot-link.org). My wife uses this regularly to synch her Palm (via a "real" serial interface).
