What printer? How are you printing? Is this from HP-UX? If so, is it locally attached or a remote printer or a network printer (via the HPPI software)?

Generally SNMP isn't required, but more information would definitely help to answer your question.

It is a HPUX network printer.

SNMP is not required to printer to work.

But hpnpadmin uses the SNMP and you cant get a response from the queue unless SNMP enabled

hpnpadmin -i IPaddress
