Java and DST patch

Hi All,

I had installed HP's latest QOLD QPK (dec 2008), and DST patch PHCO_39172 on hpux 11.11 server. Every thing went fine. The Time zone and time before and after pathing was checked . The timezone is EST5EDT.
Also the Java dependancy while installing GOLD QPK was also installed (PHKL_39133).

When we started our java application it encounterd problem and did not started. The application vendor figured out the problem with database time and application master time was off by 1 hour.

I suspect this is caused by DST patch which did not update the java timezone file. Could anyone throgh more lights on this and how can I confirm this?

The application is now up after changing time , i need to figure out the reason for this before going to production.

Thanks in advance

A patch for tztab(4) has nothing to do with java, you'll also need to get the latest java.
But since the DST changes for EST5EDT were for 2007, you are likely to have that patch already.

What is your current UTC time: date -u
It should be about 10:34 GMT.

Re: Java and DST patch

Hi:

Java doesn't use the standard HP-UX timezone libC library function which uses the data from '/usr/lib/tztab'.

Instead, see:

...which is easy to find by first targeting:

Regards!

Re: Java and DST patch

Shalom,

Java has its own DST patching system, which is also included in new releases. See http://www.hp.com/go/java for more details.
