If you actually want to create your own user defined tunable (paramater) the command on 11.23 and 11.31 is [ kctune -u ]
Somehow, I really don't think that is what you want though. I'm thinking you may want to change a parm value. So to change in ealier versions of O/S like PARisc 11.23 and prior, just use SAM (Kernel Configuration). On Itanium, newer versions, use the kctune command (man kctune) or web via SMH gui.
BUT please.....please........go to docs.hp.com and download information on Kernel configuration & parms BEFORE you start changing things you do not understand! Otherwise you could really damage your system.
